Atlético Petróleos de Luanda Angola have sacked head coach Toni Casano following their back-to-back defeats in the CAF Champions League group stages.
Petró de Luanda qualified for the Champions League group stages beating Nkana FC of Zambia 2-1 on aggregate, but the result have not been has expected since the start of the group stages, losing the first match away 2-0 to Horoya AC in Guinea before losing at home to Wydad Casablanca on Tuesday placing them of group C seemingly impossible for them to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Contrary to the poor outing on the continent, Petró de Luanda are doing well on the local scene where they currently lead the pack with 22 points from 11 games, one ahead of second place Interclube who have played a game more.
Petró de Luanda next game on the continent is against South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs who are playing the Champions League group stages for the first time in their history and a win for the the Angolan could turn things around for them on the continent.
