Retired English Premier League star Peter Crouch has made public his stands about celebrated Cameroonian forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The lethal finisher who scored goals for as many English Premier League outfits before retirement in 2018 shared the same changing room with Choupo-Moting at the Britannia stadium during the 2017-2018 season and thinks the Cameroonian should be praised, same to his agent.
Choupo-Moting has had a far from average career representing Hamburg, Mainz, Schalke, Stoke City, PSG and most-recently switched to Bayern Munich to the surprise of many including Peter Crouch who puts it on talent and his agent.
Eric Choupo-Moting has, “obviously got a fantastic agent”, Crouch admitted during a recent interview with English outlet Daily Mail.
Crouch may have reasons to be surprised and of all reasons he points to a strange comparison.
“We both scored five goals in 2017-18. Maybe I undersold myself and retired too early. What I would say, in fairness to Eric, is that he had so much talent,” the one-nil Portsmouth and Tottenham striker revealed.
Crouch then continued by joining the long list of persons that have praised the Choupo-Moting’s attitude in training as former PSG mate Ander Herrera did a few months back.
“You could see in training he was a player but it just didn’t happen as it should have done for him on a matchday,” Crouch stated.
As man who played alongside Choupo-Moting for the Potters his views on the latter’s attitude in training represents an indisputable fact.
Crouch also had some kind words for the player’s representatives.
“He (Choupo-Moting) obviously got a fantastic agent.” Just Choupo-Moting doubles as the player’s father and representative though they are affiliated to a management group.
Choupo-Moting less popular before arrival at Stoke from Schalke in August 2017.
He scored five goals in 32 games for Stoke City before leaving for PSG in the summer.
The 49-capped Cameroon international wss unable to secure safety for Stoke City which left for PSG.
Choupo-Moting scored nine goals in 51 appearances for the French champions, including a fantastic winner against Atalanta in the Champions League quarter-finals last season.
He also appeared in PSG’s final defeat to Bayern Munich which was the last game for the French Club.
Bayern later signed the 31-year-old a one-year contract and it has started well. Choupo-Moting has scored twice in five games for Hansi Flick’s team surely justifying Peter Crouch about the lions skipper.
“It was probably fitting that he ended up in Paris after Stoke. When he was around, the dressing room resembled Paris Fashion Week. He used to wear some clobber that, really, you needed to have some confidence to pull off. He had a pair of jeans that were draped with a set of oversized keys and chains. He had trench coats that went all the way to the floor – nothing was off-limits, Crouch recounted.
“Eric was a good lad and he’s obviously got a fantastic agent who has got him some fantastic opportunities. Good luck to him.” He concluded.
Choupo-Moting is expected to be a success in Germany as he has done that during his previous stints in the land of his birth.
