After spending last season on loan with Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, 25 year old South African winger Percy Tau has ones again been loaned out to another Belgian club, Clubbe Brugge for a season long-loan deal.
The South African Messi as he is known joint Brighton and Hove Albion last season from Mamelodi Sundowns after returning from a loan spell with Witbank Spurs in South Africa. He won the South African Premier League in 2014 and 2018, before signing a four year contract with Brighton, though he is yet to make any appearance for the English club.
Brighton and Hove Albion’s Technical Director Dan Ashworth has tried to produce a justification for the club’s policy over the player.
“It’s a step up to the next level in Belgium, and he also has the prospect of Champions League football,” Dan Ashworth said.
“It comes at the back of an impressive Africa Cup of Nations campaign with South Africa, and will give Percy the opportunity to further develop his undoubted talent,” Ashworth added.
The native of Mpumalanga played in all of South Africa’s games in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
He has made 23 appearances for Bafana Bafana and scored 9 goals for them.
