The interim head Coach of the Angola national team, Pedro Gonçalves has guided the Palancas Negras to their first win in his Era as interim coach of the team.

The current under 17 gaffer who worked wonders with a less fancied Angola side going into the 2019 Under 17 AFCON and qualified the team for its first ever World Cup was recently named interim coach of the senior side last month

Petro Luanda’s Wilson Gaspar’s 32nd minutes set piece goal was all Angola needed to carry the day away at Independence Estadium in Bakau against the Gambia.

Coach Pedro has begun the journey of restoring the pride of the Palancas Negras after a disappointing outing at the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.

Angola will be looking to build on their slim advantage on Tuesday at home in the reversed 2022 World Cup Qualifiers fixture.

The boys of coach Pedro have tough job to impress their own fans at home and also sail through to the next stage of their journey to Qatar.

Angola has participated in one World Cup tournament in Germany in 2006.

Coach Pedro has been in Angola for a good number of years Masterminded the development of many of the young players, this makes him the ideal coach to shoulder the country’s Qatar 2022 World Cup participation ambitions.
