A spirited come back play by the Nigerian team saw them win the Peak International Invitation for the first time.

They came back from 13 points to bear the Montenegro side 89 to 86.

At the end of the 1st quarter, it was Nigeria 16 and Montenegro 18.

After a poor quarter, captain Ike Diogu ended a mini scoring drought for D’Tigers with a bucket in the second quarter.

At halftime, it was Nigeria 36 and Montenegro 44.

D’Tigers however increased tempo and led 69-63 at the end of the third quarter after tieing at 59 points.

The Montenegro side came back again to continue dominance but a resolute D’Tigress came back to win 89 to 86.

DTigers had lost 85-71 in the opening game of the Peak International Invitation Tournament to Iran.

Nigeria also came back from 15 to beat Poland 87-84.

Coach Nwora will announce the final team following Sunday’s game.
