The Abeokuta-based side defeated Nigeria National League (NNL) outfit and current Ogun State FA Cup holders, Gateway United FC 1-2 in the final of 2021 Ogun State Pre Season Tournament at MKO Stadium, Abeokuta on Thursday.
The three goals of the game came in the first half as both sides sized each other up in the second half.
Aaron Faronbi opened the scoring for Patriots FC as early as the fourth minute of play.
Elias Oresanya doubled Patriots FC’s lead in the 34th minute before Sunkanmi Odusina pulled a goal back for Gateway United FC four minutes later.
Both sides qualified from Group A with eight points apiece to make it to the semi-final.
Gateway United pipped FC Ebedei 1-0 in the semi-final while the other semi-final game between Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Remo Stars FC and Patriots FC could not hold, giving the latter a final ticket.
