Egyptian giants Zamalek will be back in the market for a new trainer in the next few days when 50-year-old Frenchman Patrice Carteron leaves office.

The native of Saint-Brieuc joined the Club in December 2019 on deal till June 2021, but it is almost certain that he will not be around till the end of the contract.

Reports from multiple sources suggest the coach has informed the Club of his wish to leave and paid the $250K release clause to pave the way for a switch to Saudi Arabia, Morocco or another Club in Egypt.

Carteron was appointed head coach of Zamalek-Egypt in December 2019. He was in charge of the Club in 31 games, winning 19 while losing three.

The former Al Ahly and TP Mazembe lead trainer is heavily linked with a return to the Saudi Pro League with Al-Tawoon being as a possible destination according to Nuhu Adams while other sources are reporting Pyramids and Wydad Casablanca as interested parties.

Carteron is no stranger to the Saudi Pro League. He managed Al Nassr for three months during the 2016-2017 season thus making it a familiar territory for the man who has guided Zamalek to the semi-final of the 2019-2020 CAF Champions League.

Sources say the former Wadi Degla coach has a more lucrative offer from Al-Tawoon that is why he has left Zamalek barely weeks before the semi-final of the CAF Champions League tie against Raja Casablanca.
