The Guinean football federation has handed a huge suspension to refereeing trio Ela Essono, Jose Eko and Jose Nzang for participating in the famous Panthere Versus Cotonsport LFPC-organized Cameroon Elite one fixture earlier this month.
The three referees reportedly smuggled into Cameroon to officiate the controversial game without the authorization of both their Federation or the Cameroon football federation.
As a result all three referees will not participate in any competition in their country or abroad this season.
Our understanding of the issue is CAF initially wrote to the Guinean Football Federation wanting explanation on why the refereeing trio accepted to travel to Cameroon to officiate games without the necessary protocols.
The laws provided for a two weeks notification of a local federation whenever the league management body wants to go for foreign referees.
It is abundantly clear that the protocol wasn’t respected in this case.
The Equato-Guinean Football Federation distant themselves from the act and have now suspended Joaquin Esono and his two colleagues.
All three referees were FIFA badge holders before the suspension. They will be out of work for a year.
Panthère of Nde and Cotonsport of Garoua have were queried by FECAFOOT because of their participation in the said game.
