Close to a week after their surprised outing in the 2020-2021 Cameroon season opener pitting Panthère of Nde against Cotonsport of Garoua in Yaoundé, Equatorial Guinean referees ; Jaoquim Esono, Jose Antonio Eko Andeme and Jose Ramon Nsang Nfono are in trouble.
This Pan-African Sports News Agency has information on good authority that the Equatorial Guinean football federation has queried all three officials after it received a request for explanation from the Confederation of African Football.
Our understanding of the is CAF wants explanation on why the refereeing trio accepted to travel to Cameroon to officiate games without the necessary protocols with the receiving federation.
The laws provided for a two weeks notification of a local federation whenever the league management body wants to go for foreign referees. It is clear that it wasn’t so in this case.
The Equato-Guinean Football Federation has distant themselves from the act and await justification of their actions from Joaquin Esono and his two colleagues.
All three referees are FIFA badge holders and risk suspension.
Panthère of Nde and Cotonsport of Garoua have also been queried by FECAFOOT because of their participation in the said game.
