YOSA is now facing their first real litmus test, since they were promoted to the Elite one championship back in 2009.

Panthère Sportive of Nde’s 3#2 win over APEJES of mfou on Thursday afternoon at the Olembe Annex A stadium, has opened up a new dimension of things in the relegation battle in Pool A of the MTN Elite one championship.

With Racing of Bafoussam and Tonnerre Kalara Club of Yaounde already relegated to the inferior league, the question in Pool A has always been which club is to take part in the relegation playoff game against YAFOOT.

For most part of the season, Panthere has been third from the bottom in pool A rankings, but their recent two wins against APEJES and Fauve Azur, plus draws against YOSA and Racing, has given them a glimmer of hope in their quest to avoid the relegation playoffs.

Panthères recent great strides have come at a time when Yong Sports Academy has been stagnant, failing to win any of their last eight games. With the yellow Submarines of Bamenda being on standby on match Day 24, and panthères spectacular fight back to claiming all three points against APEJES, it means the Nzui Manto are now just two points adrift of YOSA, with the latter having 26 points on the league’s table.

Panthère’s win over APEJES, put them just two points adrift of YOSA

Panthère’s recent exploits have now put YOSA in a desperate situation, which requires desperate actions.

The desperate actions for both clubs have been left for the last day of play, which will be a decider. Panthère will face already maintained AS Fortuna, while YOSA will play already relegated Tonnerre Kalara Club.

Mathematically, YOSA will need to secure at least a point against TKC, to ensure their safety, given that they defeated Panthère earlier this season two_nil, before playing a one all tie in the return game. But to avoid further calculations, the yellow Submarines are oblige to beat TKC and put an end to their eight games winless streak or better still grab their first win of the post_Nkaby Martin era.

In their over 13 years in the top flight (since 2009), YOSA has now been pushed to the wall and are facing the greatest survival battle in the club’s 18_years history.
