Coach Bolu Ogundero of OSOPADEC FC says the referee’s unfair officiating made him and his players abandon their Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO1) game against FC Ebedei on Friday.
“The referee is unfair. The referee continue to award FC Ebedei diverse free kicks in the periphery of our box 18 and by so doing, they had opportunity and scored the second goal. After that, he started giving them close free kicks.” He told www.kick442.com after the game.
At a 2-2 draw with a few minutes to the end of the game, referee Oyeyemi Ahmed from Osun State pointed to the spot for a penalty to FC Ebedei which didn’t go down likely with the OSOPADEC FC coach.
He said: “The penalty that he awarded a few minutes to the end of the first half was intentional. We have been playing well to the extent that the spectators were cheering us up. Even the security men can testify to the fact that it wasn’t a penalty. That was why we refused to continue the game. As a team, we will never fight or beat the referee. If we are not satisfied with the game, we leave the point to our opponents and go home because our management that has cautioned us on that.

“The team has played two draws at home with a defeat and we didn’t fight against our opponents because they played a clean game and we had some little problem in our team which led to those bad results. Now we are back and won our last match at home because of better team cohesion and understanding. That is why you see us playing very well. But as we were playing, the referee started doing the damages.”
Coach Bolu Ogundero commended the two Assistant Referees from Ogun State; Idowu Stephen and Ajibose Kabiru but reiterated that the centre referee made the team abandon the game.
“Honestly speaking for this particular match, I have never seen anything wrong with the two home linesmen but the centre referee may be because he wants to satisfy the owner of the home team but I know Churchill Oliseh for one thing, he will never give them money or bribe them. One thing that Churchill believes in is his plan for the team. He wants to sustain the team in the league and not fighting for promotion. He is my friend and I know him well. But the centre referee wants to satisfy him.” He concluded.
The Nationwide League One after the game has issued a fine of N50,000 (fifty thousand Naira) on OSOPADEC FC for abandoning the game with three points and three goals awarded to FC Ebedei.
