Super Eagles and SSC Napoli forward, Victor James Osimhen has been tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The former LOSC Lille Metropole striker according to SSC Napoli verified Twitter handle tested positive after his return to Italy.
The club can confirm that Victor Osimhen has tested positive for COVID-19 following his return to Italy. Osimhen is currently asymptomatic and has not come into contact with the rest of the squad.
Osimhen who joined SSC Napoli for a club-record fee of 70 million pounds has not played for the Italian Serie A side since he suffered a shoulder injury during Super Eagles’ 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
This latest development will affect and truncate his return to the SSC Napoli squad for the January 2021 resumption of the 2020/2021 Italian Serie A season.
Osimhen’s transfer to SSC Napoli made his move to be the most expensive African transfer to date.
On 17 October 2020, Osimhen scored his first goal for Napoli in a 4–1 win against Atalanta. Upon scoring, he held up a shirt calling for the ending of the police brutality in his home country of Nigeria.
