Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu scored his 26th goal for KRC Genk in the 2020/2021 Belgian Jupiler league as they defeated Leuven 2-3 on Monday.
Onuachu, 26, who scored two goals for Nigeria in their last two games at the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho scored Genk’s third goal of the game in the 83rd minute off Junya Ito’s assist.
Kristian Thorstvedt scored the opening goal for Genk in the seventh minute.
Xavier Mercier equalised for Leuven in the 74th minute.
Theo Bongonda restored Genk’s lead 81st minute before Onuachu’s goal two minutes later.
Thomas Henry’s goal for Leuven in the 92nd minute could not prevent the host from suffering a defeat.
Onuachu was replaced by Cyriel Dessers in the 89th minute. He has scored 26 goals with two assists from 31 league games this season for Genk.
Genk occupied the third position on the Belgian Jupiler league table with 53 points from 32 games, 20 points behind David Okereke’s Club Brugge.
They will host St. Truiden in their next encounter on April 11, 2021.
