Italian Serie A side Genoa have completed the signing of 23-year-old Cameroonian defender Jerome Junior Onguene.
The Club announced the acquisition of the player on loan from Austrian side Red Bull Salzbourg this Friday.
The 17th-placed – relegation-threatened outfit are expected to keep the Cameroon International on their books for the rest of the season with an option to make the deal permanent at the cost of €5 million at the end of the season.
The center-back has featured in nine Austrian Bundesliga games this season and assisted once before his departure.
The five-capped Cameroon International joined Salzburg in 2017 on loan from VFB Stuttgart and has gone on to make 93 appearances for the Club, scored 11 goals and provided four assists.
Genoa becomes the first Italian side the native of Mbalmayo will play for and the fourth European side he will represent in his younger career.
