Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) were forced to a 1-1 draw by Ekiti United as the second stanza of the Nigeria National League (NNL) kicked off last weekend.
Gafar Olafimihan’s goal was canceled by Abdul Hammed with both goals coming in the second half.
Ekiti United’s Saheed Lasisi says the away point was an important one for his side as they have been preparing for the game.
“It’s a game we have been planning for. Three weeks now before the break, they came to our house and got a draw and we are so much determined to come here to get the desirable result.” He told www.kick442.com at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, after his side’s 1-1 draw with 3SC.
The former Remo Stars captain revealed why he left the fellow NNL side for Ekiti United.
He said: “I was the former captain of Remo Stars but one can’t play football in one place in Nigeria. One just has to keep moving. I have spent my last eight years at Remo Stars and deemed it fit that I need another challenge in my life which the major reason why I joined Ekiti United.
“In everything that I achieve today, I will always remember Ijebu Ode. I love them and they love me as well. Coming back to this place is a source of inspiration for me and my team which enabled us to get the point. We will never forget this point till the end of this season. Coming back to my town and getting a point against a formidable side like Shooting Stars makes me happy.”
The Physical and Health Education (Human Kinetics) graduate of Tai Sholarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijebu Ode 2008 set thanked his alma mater and Ijebu Ode fans generally for his discovery.
“I give God the glory. I give TASUED the glory and so much appreciate them as a product of the school. Whatever I achieve today, I will never forget TASUED and Ijebu Ode because that was where I discovered myself.” He concluded.
