Danish Super Liga club SønderjyskE Fodbold have cancelled the contract of Nigeria midfielder Ogenyi Onazi.
In October 2020, SønderjyskE and Ogenyi Onazi signed a contract until the summer of 2021, but the parties have agreed that the cooperation will stop now – half a year before the end of the contract.
28-year old Onazi hasn’t gotten the playing time in the Danish League that everyone had hoped for, and the Nigerian now gets the opportunity to find himself somewhere else where he can use his qualities and experience.
SønderjyskE Fodbold Sports manager, Hans Jørgen Haysen thanked Onazi at the moment in SønderjyskE, where the former World Cup player has shown himself well, although it did not turn into so many minutes of games.
“There is not a finger to put on Onazi’s efforts in SønderjyskE. He has been professional at the tip of the toe, and he has fit well into the group with his dedication, and he has also been pouring out of his experience for the young players on the team.
“He came with a backlog from an injury, but he has been part of almost every workout with us, and it also turned into a starting place in the Sydbank Cup and a few hops in the 3 F Super League. However, it didn’t turn out quite as he and we had hoped for, and he has stated that he might fit better into a league other than the 3 F Super League, and he now gets the opportunity to try it out.
“We thank him for the effort in the light blue shirt and wish him all the best in the future,” says Hans Jørgen Haysen.
