Cameroon international Andre Onana conceded a late goal to VV Venlo in the Dutch league but it counted for nothing as his side was already four up. The victory gives Ajax a temporal command of the Eredivisie Christmas tree.

Andre Onana would not care about the consolation Venlo got courtesy E. Linthorst at the 89 minute on Saturday, August 17, as his team already did the damage with four at the other end.

The shot stopper and his much changed Ajax team are beginning to find themselves in familiar territory as they now have moved up to 7 points and top of the Dutch league on goal difference.

The league is promising to be even more difficult for Ajax to retain this year with the likes of Vitesse and Sparta level on points (7) with them. It is going to take some heroics – though in the baby stages of the campaign, to replicate last season’s league winning campaign for Onana and teammates.
