Nigeria’s duo of Blessing Okagbare and Divine Oduduru gave a good account of themselves at American Track League Meet, Randall Tyson Track Centre on Sunday as they finished first and second in the respective categories.
For Okagbare it was her her first 60m final in 11years and she didn’t falter she powered to a Personal Best (PB) of 7.17s to win the event, edging out Jamaica’s Christania Williams who equalled her time from the heats with 7.18s.
Kayla White pipped Morolake Akinosun to third as they both returned 7.20s, a PB for the former.
The Nigerian Olympian had an opened her season by clocking clocked a quick 7.19s to finish 2nd in the second heat of the women’s 60m at the American Track League Meet, just behind Jamaica’s Christania Williams who ran 7.18s (opener).
The time of 7.19s was Okagbare’s second fastest time ever over the distance and her first 60m race since 2010.
In the Men’s 60m final at the ongoing American Track League, Divine Oduduru came in second with a time of 6.65s.
He had started the season on a winning note, taking his 60m heat in 6.70s which qualified him for the final.
