Nigerian star athletes Divine Oduduru and Blessing Okagbare made the track their own at the UNF Invitational in Florida on Thursday.
The duo won the 200m in the male and female category of the meet.
Okagbare kept up her impressive early season to surge round to a fast slightly windy 22.03 (2.5) for a thorough win from Alfreda Steele in 22.83 and Cambrea Sturgis in 22.86 at the North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville. A time faster than her own African Record.
However, it won’t go into the record books (Personal Best) as a result of the marginally excessive wind of 2.5m/s.
Divine Oduduru clinched first place in the Men’s 200m with an impressive 19.88s (+1.6m/s) at the UNF Invitational in Florida.
His time is currently the second fastest in the world this season. He beat Cravont Charleston to the win as the latter came in second in 20.16s, while Jo’Vaughn Martin got third in 20.22s.
Meanwhile, Fabian Edoki was in action in the Men’s Long Jump event at the UNF Invitational in Florida where he jumped an impressive Season Best of 8.01m to place second behind his teammate Isaac Grimes who jumped 8.07m.
The mark means he qualified for the CAA African Athletics Championships happening in Algeria later this year.
