Tanzanian giants Azam FC have completed the signing of Intermediate Lions of Cameroon forward Thierry Akono Akono.
The 24-year-old goal getter joined the Club the Club on a two-year-deal this Monday from AS Fortuna, putting an end to discussions with rivals Yanga SC.
It is the player’s third country abroad having previously had a stint in Congo Republic and in Equatorial Guinea.
Akono scored nine goals for AS Fortuna last season, finishing the season as his Club’s lead scorer, just two goals behind the season top scorer Leon Boyomo.
The player has completed medicals and finalized the deal.
His compatriot Kingue Njoh Mpondo is widely regarded as a legend of Azam FC.
He becomes the second player of coach Yves Clement Arroga’s 30 boys to leave Cameroon’s intermediate Lions team for abroad.
Azam FC have been very busy this window recruiting a handful of players to upset the continuous domestic domestic of eternal rivals Simba SC.
