Sources at Cotonsport of Garoua have told that coach Ebwelle Ndinge Bertin has refused to sign a new contract and consequently stepped down from his role as head coach of Cotonsport of Garoua.

This comes exactly a year and a week after the 59 years old former indomitable Lion replaced Minkreo Birwe as head coach of the Garoua current champion of Cameroon.

Ebwelle Bertin guided Cotonsport their 15th title in the 2018 season with an impressive record of just 2 defeats in 28 games with a win rate of over 60%.

The start of the current campaign has proved more difficult for the former Under 17 Lions coach. He has won 3,draw 3 and lost 2 of his 8 opening games this season, failing to win away from home.

He also failed to help Cotonsport into the group stage of either the CAF Confederation Cup and Champions league winning 2 of his 6 games in the competitions with the other 4 games ending in a defeat.

In all Ebwelle was in charge for 42 matches; He lost 8,won 22 and draw 12 registering a 52% win rate.

Sources at the club say the club will name his replacement likely an African coach in the next 72 hours.
