English Premier League side Manchester United have been blown away by the skills of Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo.
They now value him at a huge £70 million if he was five years younger, according to reports on express.co.uk.
The 30-year-old has hit the ground running at Old Trafford since arriving on loan from Shanghai Shenhua on winter transfer deadline day.
Though limited to a substitute role, since his arrival at the Theatre of Dreams so far, the Nigerian has attempted 197 actions across all competitions for the Solskjaer’s team, with a 50.3% success rate.
He has found the back of the net four times. He scored against Club Brugge, grabbed a brace against Derby County in the FA Cup, and got his fourth against LASK in the Europa League.
Ighalo provides a huge presence upfront for United, offering their attack a new dimension. His physical attributes are one of the main reasons United brought him to Old Trafford, especially after the departure of Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku last summer.
He has attempted seven aerial duels with a success rate of 57.1%, with his standout contribution being winning an aerial duel against Manchester City which led to Scott McTominay’s goal against their city rivals.
The Nigerian has showed his predatory instincts, with 23 touches in the box since his arrival in just 356 minutes of game time.
This has added something new to United’s attack as the likes of Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood, despite the huge qualities, lack the predatory instincts Ighalo possesses.
The Nigerian has showed great discipline leading the line, recording just three offside calls.
He has attempted 73 passes so far for the Red Devils, with an 86.3% accuracy rate.
He has also recorded a 38.9% success rate in his 18 attempted dribbles.
He has showed determination in recovering the ball, which suits Solskjaer’s pressing game. He has recovered the ball nine times, giving him a percentage success of 77.8% in all his attempts.
Those were the considerations United have used to value the Nigerian forward at a staggering £70 million in today’s transfer market if he was five years younger.
