Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel has said he will not play despite the fact that the Turkish Super Lig has been maintained in the heart of Coronavirus fears.
The 32-year-old Trabzonspor midfielder announced that he will not play any game until further notice.
“There is more in life than football. I am not feeling at ease and I don’t want to play football under the current circumstances. Everyone is suppose to be at home with their families and close ones in this critical moments. The season should be canceled because the world is faced by difficult times,” Mikel said.
The Nigerian has received support from some of his teammates, notably Radamel Falcao who thinks the Nigerian is correct.
Trabzonspor are currently top of the Turkish league table and had to play against second placed team on Sunday.
