The second stanza of this Season’s Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) commenced on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at various centres.
Starting from Osogbo Township stadium where traveling Rivers Angels stunned host, Osun Babes by defeating the Osogbo based club by a lone goal. Vivian Ikechukwu’s 45th minute goal was enough for Rivers Angels to travel back to Port Harcourt with a win.
Abia Angels and Confluence Queens played out a 1-1 draw. Geraldine Amadi’s 38th minute goal was cancelled by Adoo Yina’s 82nd minute Equaliser to make the game even through to full time.
In Lagos, FC Robo were 1-0 better than Delta Queens. Olabiyi’s 29th minute goal secured the slim win for the former club of Rasheedat Ajibade of Super Falcons.
Ibom Angels make sure that Invincible Angels did travel back home with no point as the host were 2-0 better than their visitors. Ugoma Joseph gave Ibom Angels the lead in the 35th minute before Damilola Koku sealed the victory for the Akwa Ibom side with an 93rd minute goal.
Hosts, Edo Queens and Adamawa Queens both played out the only goaless draw of this week’s fixtures. In another match up, Heartland Queens of Owerri defeated Dream Stars Ladies of Lagos 2-0 courtesy goals from Chinyere Njoku and Idike Jiroro. While Sunshine Queens of Akure, Ondo State defeated Bayelsa Queens 1-0.
