Bayelsa Queens FC of Yenagoa have joined Adamawa and Confluence Queens in sealing the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Super 4 ticket. The Yenegoa based side picked the sole ticket from group C of the Nigeria Women Football League after playing out a thrilling and entertaining two all draw with visiting Nasarawa Amazons at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

The result leave the Restoration Girls on eleven(11) points same as second place Sunshine Queens but have a plus five goal difference as against plus four for the Akure side.

The rain delayed match started on a fast pace with Bayelsa Queens scoring from a sublime strike off their talismanic winger Anjor Mary in the 17th minutes. The visitors had hardly recovered from that opener when Ginika Ikeh free kick was fumbled into the net by the Nasarawa Goalkeeper in the 26th minutes to double lead.

The Lafia based side quickly responded in the 36th minutes when Ugochi Emenayo headed in a corner kick to reduce the deficit. The comeback was completed when Deborah Abiodun’s 25 yards shot caught Bayelsa queens goalkeeper Rabi Ihieabi napping in the 43rd minutes.

The Host came out in the Second Half more determined to get the winning goal, but poor finishing was their undoing with Rafiat Sule the worst culprit.

Technical Adviser of Nasarawa Amazons, Christopher Danjuma stated that having lost the super four ticket before coming to Yenagoa, they were determined not to loss back to back game to Bayelsa Queens.

On his part, technical Adviser of Bayelsa Queens Moses Aduku was thankful for the super four ticket even though he felt his team did not play to expectation. But promise to work on the lapses before the super four.

Rivers Angels on the other hand defeated Delta Queens 1-0 via Evelyn Nwabuoku 63rd minute goal.
