NWPL Week 3: Mfon Akpan Wins Referee of the Week

The organisers of the Soccer Queens Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Referee of the week awards has officially announced Mfon Akpan of the Akwa Ibom State Referee Council as the Soccer Queens (SQ) NWPL Referee of week three.

The graduate of the University of Calabar won the prestigious award ahead of Abdulganiyu Rasheedat of the FCT Referees Council and Ikponmwosa Conscience of the Edo State Referees Council.

Mfon Akpan officiated the game between Rivers Angels and Osun Babes in Porthacourt and was very fair with her decisions all through the game, receiving praises from the fans, players and the two club managers.

The weekly award which is proudly sponsored by NFF 1st Vice President Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi is aimed at honoring women referees who have a strong work ethic, have knowledge of the rules of the game and are positive role models and will see the winner going home with N25,000 cash prize.

A team of women football experts and panelist voted based on reports gathered by assessors all around various match centres.
