With the end of Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Week 2 (two) fixtures, NWPL Media has compiled the list of Team of the Week.
Bayelsea Queens has three (3) players on the list followed by Ibom Angels and FC Robo both with two (2) players each. Osun Babes, Sunshine Queens, Confluence Queens and Delta Queens all have one player each on the team of the week.
Osun Babes Goal keeper Ademola Monrufat emerged as the goal keeper of the week with her superb saves against FC Robo before succumbing to a last minute Monday Gift goal.
The defensive line up comprise of Glory Ogbona of Ibom Angels for holding her back line in her side 2-0 home win over Abia Angels keeping a clean sheet in the process. Sunshine Queens Akodu Ogbonna also made the defensive line up with Alexander Florence of Confluence Queens and Abidemi Ibe of Bayelsa Queens.
In the midfield, Bayelsa Queens duo of Anjor Mary and Rejoice Ikoyo made the line up. Anjor Mary’s brace helped the league defending Champions to a 2-1 away win over Aiteo Cup champions Nasarawa Amazons. Esther Oyenezide of FC Robo completes the midfield line up.
Finally in the attacking department, the scorer of FC Robo last minute goal and winner against Osun Babes, Monday Gift made the cut alongside Koku Damilola of Ibom Angels who got a brace against Abia Angel as well as Delta Queens Maryann Ezeanagu whose solitary goal helped her side to a slim 1-0 win over Rivers Angels.
The team is managed by Bayelsa Queens manager, Moses Aduku.
The Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) is expected to continue next week with Week three (3) fixtures.
