Yoh Carine monopolizes possession

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) enters week 2 with midweek fixtures slated for Wednesday, July 31st 2019.

The opening weekend of the 2019 Nigeria Women Premier League season brought plenty of excitement, and there are some more tasty fixtures in Week two.

The standout match is at the Lafia City Stadium on Wednesday when new AITEO Cup Champion will welcome Bayelsa Queens.

Rafiat Sule and Joy Bokiri inspired the Restoration Girls to a 3-0 victory against Kaduna Queens in week one , sending Moses Aduku Ladies to the top of the pile in Group C. While the Solid Babes picked a draw at Akure against Sunshine Queens.

Edo Queens enjoyed a 1-0 win at the Agege Township Stadium on the opening day against Dream Stars Ladies while Abia Angels won newly promoted side Invincible Angels by 2-1 with Marcus Grace scoring a brace.

The jewel of Rivers enjoyed a winning start to their NWPL campaign by beating FC Robo 1-0 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, while Delta Queens picked a draw at the Osogbo City Stadium against Osun Babes FC. Up next for the Omoluabi Queens is a trip to Surulere to face FC Robo.

Elsewhere in the Women’s league topflight, Delta Queens will welcome Rivers Angels, Dream Stars Ladies head to far away Furfure to face Adamawa Queens, Invincible Angels welcomes Confluence Queens, while Edo Queens will welcome Heartland Queens to Benin.

INVINCIBLE ANGELS VS CONFLUENCE QUEENS(J.S Tarka Stadium, Gboko)

Newly promoted side Invincible Angels showed some glimpses of promise in their first game of the season against Abia Angels in Ntigha where they narrowly lost 2-1 to the ‘Angels from the East’.
Meanwhile their opponent on Wednesday, Confluence Queens defeated rival Ibom Angels by 2-0 at the Lokoja Township Stadium and will feel they can win in Gboko over an inexperienced Invincible Angels.
The Gboko Ladies clearly have some interesting players on their side and would fancy a famous win over a more experienced Confluence Queens. I think this game is going to end in a draw.
PREDICTION : Invincible Angels 1 Confluence Queens 1.

IBOM ANGELS VS ABIA ANGELS ( Uyo Township Stadium, Uyo)

Abia Angels began the season by beating Nigeria Women Premier League newcomers Invincible Angels by 2-1 at the Ginger Onwusibe Stadium, Ntigha but this time around they travel to neighbouring town Uyo to face Ibom Angels who lost 2-0 at Lokoja against a rejuvenated Confluence Queens under Whyte Ogbonda.
Abia Angels have a well organised defence and the Orange Ladies manager Moruf Adeyemo is wary of the threat the angels from the east can give to his team on a good day and has told his forwards Emem Essien, Edewor Precious and Koku Damilola to try and score early in the encounter.
Nevertheless in an encounter, like this, Ibom Angels knows that to keep their dream of playing at this year’s Super 4 alive they need to win convincingly against Abia Angels. I think Ibom Angels should win this
PREDICTION: Ibom Angels 3 Abia Angels 1.

FC ROBO VS OSUN BABES (The Legacy Football Pitch, Surulere)

Osahon Emmanuel will urge his players to be attack-minded whenever possible, so there are sure to be some memorable moments in this encounter on Wednesday.
Osun Babes were unlucky not to defeat Delta Queens in their first game of the season and will be looking forward to picking atleast a draw in Lagos, a feat they achieved last season.
The departure of inspirational club captain Rasheedat Ajibade left a huge void to fill, but the likes Chindinma Okeke, Esther Oyenezedie and Folashade Ijamilusi can keep their own against the Omoluabi Queens.
However, this is a tricky test to predict but i am going with a draw in this encounter.
PREDICTION: : FC Robo 1 Osun Babes 1

EDO QUEENS VS HEARTLAND QUEENS( Uniben Sports Complex, Benin).

Benin based side Edo Queens started high with a victory over Dream Stars Ladies in Agege and will face Heartland Queens on Wednesday at the University of Benin Sports Complex.
Technical adviser of Edo Queens Godwin Izilien and Head Coach of Heartland Queens Eucharia Uche have both managed the Super Falcons in the past and both will meet again on Wednesday in Benin. It looks more like a win for Edo Queens as they would want to keep the momentum going with a victory against Heartland Queens.
*PREDICTION* : Edo Queens 2 Heartland Queens 0

ADAMAWA QUEENS VS DREAM STARS LADIES (Atiku Abubakar Stadium, Furfure)

Newly promoted side Dream Stars Ladies will face a difficult two day away trip to Furfure where they will tackle Adamawa Queens in their second game of the 2019 campaign of the NWPL.
The Pride of Lagos impressed in their first game of the season, but narrowly lost to Edo Queens at the Agege Stadium and will be looking forward to picking a positive result in far away Adamawa.
The Jacob Vandi side picked a point in Owerri and would desperately want a win against the Lagos based side, but football they say is unpredictable. Realistically, Adamawa Queens should pick the maximum point on Wednesday.
PREDICTION: Adamawa Queens 2 Dream Stars Ladies 0

NASARAWA AMAZONS VS BAYELSA QUEENS (Lafia City Stadium, Lafia)

Nasarawa Amazons confidence should be sky high as they seek to build on their success at the AITEO Cup final against Rivers Angels and the one point picked away at Akure.
Its promises to be a difficult game as both teams have quality players and what makes it even more difficult is that Bayelsa Queens seem to be more attacking minded than a more technically gifted Nasarawa Amazons.
In front of their home fans in Lafia, the Solid Babes are unpredictable and the game against Bayelsa Queens means alot to the Christopher Danjuma’s tutored side if their hope of a double this season is to come by. I see both teams scoring, also think Nasarawa Amazons will win by a one goal margin.
*PREDICTION* : Nasarawa Amazons 2 Bayelsa Queens 1.

DELTA QUEENS VS RIVERS ANGELS(Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba)

Rivers Angels face another tough trip to Asaba in a South-South derby just after losing to Nasarawa Amazons in the final of the AITEO Cup on Sunday but they would no doubt settle for picking up a point at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Wednesday.
Both had favourable results in week one and would want to consolidate with a great result in Asaba. Ibinabo Georgewill, Vivian Ikechukwu have been in great form same as Brume Ikhekua and Maryann Ezenagu and it with come to bear when it matters most.
After the disappointing loss to Nasarawa Amazons on Sunday, it is up to Edwin Okon to lift the spirits of the players and no doubt George Emenetie is an experienced gaffer who knows how important a victory is to his team in front of their home fans. Difficult to predict, but I do not see Rivers Angels losing.
PREDICTION : Delta Queens 1 Rivers Angels 1

KADUNA QUEENS VS SUNSHINE QUEENS (Kaduna Township Stadium, Kaduna)
Kaduna Queens head coach, Aminu Shuaib is confident that his side can pick the maximum points against start studded Sunshine Queens. The ‘Owena Ladies’ lost two precious points at home against Nasarawa Amazons and will be looking at recovering the lost points at the Kaduna Township Stadium against Kaduna Queens.
No doubt, Sunshine Queens are the favourite to win, but playing at home will give the ‘Crocodile Ladies’ the edge over the more experienced Sunshine Queens. This shouldn’t be a difficult one for me to predict, but you know football is like biscuit and it can crack at any point.
PREDICTION: Kaduna Queens 1 Sunshine Queens 2.
