Pelican Stars FC were 4-1 victors over Police Machine in the first match of this season Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Playoffs.
Both teams observed a minute’s silence in honour of the late Police Machine FC Players, Glory Saturday and Aniebet Ekong who died after they were hit by a vehicle.

Monica Ohaeche after being caught offside twice finally scored for the Calabar girls in the 29th minute, after she was released upfront by Hodo Williams to put Pelican Stars ahead.

Ogechi Ukwuokama converts from the spot in the 44th minute to make it Pelican Stars 2-0 Police Machine.

In the 50th second half minute, Police Machine scores from a very close range after a misunderstanding from the Pelican Stars defence. Chiamaka Okechukwu the goal scorer.
Ogechi Ukwuokama makes it three for Pelican in the 68th minute as she played a lofty one past Nko Nfonobong to make it 3-1 in favour of Pelican Stars.
New entrant and former Confluence Queens midfielder Funmi Onakoya took advantage of an error by Nfonobong to make it 4-1 in favour of Pelican Stars in the 73rd minute.
