Olori Babes and Pelican Stars have both clinched the two (2) available promotion tickets to next season’s Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL). This was confirmed after the end of the final match day of the NWFL Pro-League Playoffs on Friday, October 11, 2019.
Pelican Stars 3-0 Moje Queens
Pelicans Stars sealed their promotion ticket with a resounding 3-0 victory over Moje Queens. Chinwedu Ufuomba opened the scoring for Pelican Stars from a solo effort in the 20th minute. She grabbed the ball and ran past two defenders before slotting coolly past Hussaini Christiana.
In the 46th minute Chinwendu Ofuomba Scored again with her second goal of the game after nodding in a spot kick from Ogechi Ukwuoma.
In the second half, Joy Okoronkwo scored from a very close point after a cross from Ogechi Ukwuoma was initially cleared out.
Olori Babes 2-0 Police Machine
Olori Babes 100% record in the 2019 NWFL Pro-League Playoffs continued as they secured a 2-0 triumph over Police Machine to confirm their promotion to the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL). With half time ending 0-0, Olori Babes were able to take the lead in the 60th minute courtesy Eunice Godwin first goal of the competition. Brilliant low slayed effort beat Juliet Odiaka in goal for Police Machine.
Chika Idika’s long range effort in the 82nd minute beat Odiaka making it the first time that Olori Babes will score more than two goals in this competition as well as keeping clean sheets throughout the tournament.
