The camp of Ibom Angels Football Club of Uyo, opens on Saturday, 14 November 2020, ahead of the new Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.

Training for the team will commence on Monday, 16 November 2020 as part of preparations for the 2020/2021 season which kickstarts on December 9.

Players of the club are mandated to return to camp on or before the commencement of training on Monday.

Recall that the 2019/2020 Nigeria Women Football League season was scrapped in March due to the coronavirus pandemic which has ravaged the world’s economy and sporting activities as well.

The two-time Aiteo Cup finalists who have never tasted relegation since inception in 2004 are poised to put up a good showing when the league gets underway and continues its tradition of churning out stars for various female national teams.

Ibom Angels Football Club will clash against Kogi Confluence Queens, in the season opener.

The encounter is scheduled to take place at Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, on Wednesday, 9 December 2020.

According to the organizers of the league, the league will be straight league format, as the Confederation of African Football Federation (CAF), has approved the commencement of the first African Women Champions League Competition.

16 clubs are participating in this year’s league after three years of abridged league format.

The participating teams are as follows:
Nasarawa Amazons, FC Robo Queens, Adamawa Queens, Rivers Angels, Confluence Queens, Ibom Angels, Dreams Stars, Delta Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Pelican Stars, Edo Queens, and Royal Queens.

In a statement made by the Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Mrs.Faith Ben-Anuge, during the draws ceremony held at the conference room of the new NWFL Secretariat in Abuja, the fixtures for the 2020 Premiership season would be played for 30 weeks.

She added that the draws were generated digitally and the teams paired electronically, leaving a margin of zero error.

Mrs.Ben-Anuge disclosed that the fixture between former league champions, Nasarawa Amazon’s and FC Robo of Lagos at Lafia Township Stadium, Nasarawa has been picked as 2020/2021 Premiership season.

She noted that the season would go on a two-week break after Week 15.
