Heartland Queens on Tuesday ran riot and hammered Beautiful Tours Angels FC 5-2 in their second game of the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship 2022 season at the Dipo Dina Stadium training pitch in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.
Two fantastic goals from the team’s highest goalscorer, Lucky Mary, and a goal each from Ugo Best, Chioma John, and Mary Okorie were sufficient for the Owerri Landladies to decimate their opponents who went home with two consolation goals courtesy of Priscilla Omeje and Ifunanya Chikwai.
That makes it two wins from two games for Heartland Queens with seven goals scored and three conceded.
Heartland Queen’s coach, Obi Ogbala after the match told the pressmen that the team is taking the games as they come and spoke on how to play their next game without top goal scorer, Mary Lucky who was sent off during the game.

He said: “We are taking the games one at a time. We played 2-1 in our first game and today we picked another win (5-2). Looking at the group, it seems it will be decided by goals. I told my players that we need to score more goals. I thank God for getting the victory and six points in the bag. There is still room for improvement. The game of football is not an individual game but a team game. We are going to rejig for the next match after Lucky Mary’s red card. We will miss Lucky Mary but won’t miss her much. The player that scored the fifth goal was brought in and she scored a goal. Scoring is not an individual thing. We are going to see what we can do to replace Lucky Mary in our next match.”
Heartland Queens captain, Oluchi Ofoegbu expressed her joy with the victory.
She said: “Honestly I am very grateful to God and my players. Football is teamwork with collective effort. Without the efforts of our coaches and players, I don’t think we can make it this far.
Up next for the Imo state-based club seeking to top their group and return to the premiership is a crunch tie against Moje Queens on Thursday, 16th of June 2022, by 10 am at the main bowl of the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode.
