21-year-old Cameroon footballer Ntui Obasi Walters left his native Buea and is relishing life and enjoying his football in far away Lusaka, Zambia.
The versatile Cameroon player says he is “feeling loved” at Lusaka’s Heroes Stadium, home of his current Zambian Premier League employers, Lusaka Dynamos.
Obasi joined coach Ian Bakala’s team in 2019 from Cameroon’s Southeest Regional Championship outfit Limbe Football Club Association.
After enjoying an impressive run of form notably in their last eight games before the Zambian Premier League was suspended due to the Coronavirus, Obasi said he is happy in Zambia.
“I have no complaints nor regrets for coming over to Zambia, I enjoy the city of Lusaka, the country, my club, my teammates,” the former Cameroon U-17 international told this online portal.
“I feel genuine love here and just enjoy every moment here. Who knows what will happen in the future.”
The 1.79m tall player began his career with lower league side Mountain Stars Academy then progressed to Cameroon’s national second tier Championship with Dynamic of Buea before joining top flight side Bamboutos of Mbouda.
He however found himself back playing regional football with ambitious Limbe Football Club, who have repeatedly failed to matched their ambition with success.
The move to Zambia came at a time that the player was seeking top flight football again and he had the chance to take a new challenge abroad.
He grabbed the opportunity with both hands and has since then made some telling contributions for coach Bakala’s team which currently occupies the 5th position on the log in the Zambian top flight.
The player is highly regarded by both his teammates and technical staff.
“He is a hard working player, very skillful and strong,” the club’s captain George Chilufa told kick442.com.
“His integration was easy and he is like a brother to me. We all love him here and he gives his best everyday both in training and on match days.”
Coach Ian Bakala was also full of praise for the native of Buea.
“He is a utility player. A very hard working, strong and focused player, capable of playing in many positions and gives you and excellent performance,” coach Bakala said.
“I think he has contributed a lot for Lusaka Dynamos. We can use him in any position, he takes instructions and executes them to perfection.
“We have even used him at times just to close games when he doesn’t start and whenever he comes on he does perfectly well. A very disciplined player who understands football.”
Ntui Obase Walters is one of a handful of Cameroonian players plying their trade in Zambia, alongside his Lusaka Dynamos teammate, Baba Basile [former Union of Douala and New Star of Douala forward].
Amongst others is potential Indomitable Lion is Zambia is 25-year-old Zanaco midfielder Moussa Souleymanou. The midfielder who is a four times Cameroon league winner with Cotonsport of Garoua, is now breaking new grounds in the Zambian Premier League.
