Charles Omokaro’s lone strike in the 68th minutes was all that Bendel Insurance needed to secure a 1-0 win over CAF Champions League flag bearer, Lobi stars.
In a very close contested game, Insurance Omokaro had the first chance of the game in the 22nd minute when his effort was pushed away to safety.
Junior Osaghae had a big chance in the 25th minute from close range.
There was light showers around 29th minute during the game as the game ends 0-0 at half time.
Insurance came out in the second half in search for a win. In the 57th minute Bah Yare blocked Insurance goal bound effort. A minute later Lobi stars goal keeper John Lawrence made a fantastic save to deny Osaghae.
In the 59th minute, Kingsley Onovo’s free kick for Insurance was straight at Lawrence in goal for Lobi stars.
Insurance pressurized Lobi stars as Onovo and Michael Enaruna combined in an attacking move that came to nought.
Omokaro again in the 67th minute dragged his effort off target. A minute later Insurance took the lead as Charles Omokaro made amends for his miss of few seconds ago with the first goal of the game.
Lobi attempted to find their way back in the game and Austine Ogunye’s effort from way out does not trouble Goal Keeper Amas Obasoge in the 71st minute. Lobi stars enjoyed a few attacking moment in the 72nd minute as Dare Ojo’s shot was saved by goal keep Amas.
Late on in the 78th minute, Insurance had their heart in their mouths as Dare Ojo set up Samuel Mathias who failed to apply the finish as Lobi stars passed up a glorious chance to level the score.
Bendel Insurance went on to claim all three points as the match ended up with a win for Bendel Insurance
