Former CHAN Eagles and Abia Warriors Striker Chisom Chikatara is set for his 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League return with Akwa United FC as he has been selected for tomorrow’s game against Nasarawa United according to

It was reported by that the former Abia Warriors striker was training with Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club Akwa United ahead of a possible move to the Uyo-based team.

Prior his return this Sunday, Chikatara was part of players who were to be unveiled alongside other players before the beginning of the season but it didn’t happen.

Reports however alleged that it may not be unconnected to the player’s clearance delay.

Chikatara made his professional debut for NPFL’s Abia Warriors at the age of 17 in 2012 before joining Wydad Casablanca four years later.

Chikatara, prior to leaving the NPFL, he was a proven goal score. That season, he was third highest goal scorer in the 2015 Nigeria Premier league with 2 goals behind the top scorer.

His ability to score puts his goal tally to fifty-eight (58) goals for Abia Warriors in seventy-one 71 games before he moved to to North Africa.

The striker moved to El-Gouna from Wydad Casablanca in 2018. He was then loaned to Tala’a El-Geish in January after finding little playing time with El-Gouna.
