Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Heartland Football Club of Owerri announced that Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa have officially completed his transfer move after previously featuring for Katsina United.
Ezenwa penned a deal which would keep him in the side till 2021.
The AFCON 2019 star first moved to the Heartland in July 2008 and featured in various league and cup games till 2011 when he left Owerri for Port-Harcourt.
The goalkeeper who is the club first signing ahead of the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, returns to the 5-time Nigerian champions after eight years, joining new head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu whose major task is to take the team back to glory.
Reacting after his signing, the goal keeper who was in goal for Super Eagles of Nigeria in her final group game against Madagascar in a 2-0 loss said
“I am here to give a good account of myself in the field of play. I am hoping for the best while in Owerri, and I am full of positive anticipation that we would grab a ticket and head to the continents again”
Heartland Football Club General Manager, Ifeanyi Chukwudi asserted that “This is a statement of intent, that Heartland is in for serious business and not business as usual.”
