Sunshine Stars of Akure, Ondo state moved from the relegation spot to the fifth (5th) position on the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table as the club defeated Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Benue State 3-0.
Goals was a scarce commodity throughout the first period of the match as both sides couldn’t covert their chances to make half time score line stood at Sunshine Stars 0-0 Lobi Stars.
At the resumption of the game (second half), when it looked like the game was heading towards a goaless draw, Chibundu Amah put Sunshine Stars ahead in the 74th minute. Amah got his brace in the 80th minute and round the game up with a well deserved hatrick in the 83rd minute.
With this result, Sunshine Stars moved from 10th position to 5th position with 19 points and +2 goal difference.
Lobi Stars on the other hand stayed in the 4th position with 20 points +3 goal difference behind Rangers (1st, 24 points, MFM FC (2nd, 23 points) and Enyimba (3rd, 21 points). Group leaders Enugu Rangers still have 3 outstanding matches to play.
The league is expected to continue next weekend.
