After the conclusion of match day seven fixtures of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, Rivers United have now move back to zenith of the log after their win against Adamawa United while Enyimba occupy the second place after their win over Katsina United.
Fortune Omoniwari was the hero for Rivers United just like the first two matches of the season as he scored the lone goal that handed the maximum points for the home side.
Omoniwari header was parried but he headed the rebound for the for the goal. Ishaq Rafiu with an instant impact with a fabulous cross for the assist.
Rivers should have been a goal up earlier, but a penalty miss in the thirty third minutes by Godwin Aguda after Edward Elam handled in his box to deny Esor’s goal bound opportunity.
At Aba, Omoyele’s first goal of the season saw Enyimba record a one nil win that put them on same point as first place Rivers United.
Tosin Omoyele made amends for his earlier miss from the spot. A cross from Manyo was miscued by a Katsina defender and the ball fell to Omoyele who slotted it to the left corner of the keeper at the dead of half time.
Aniekan Ekpe scored twice as Dakkada FC continue with their Impressive record over Warri Wolves FC in an NPFL game, after their 2 goals to nil win.
Ekpe scored in the 38th minutes after he curled the ball from 25 yards to beat goalkeeper Richard Ocheayi. He doubled the lead from the spot in the 52nd minutes after Wolves substitute Daniel Ijeh in his first contribution tripped Christian Ekong inside the penalty box.
Gbenga Ogunbote triumphed over his former side Rangers Int’l as his side Sunshine Stars put three pass the Enugu team who could only score one.
Red hot striker Sadeeq Yusuf opened score for Sunshine Stars in the 25th minutes. Ekelojuoti Fuad made it two in the 34th minutes.
Aniefiok reduced Sunshine’s lead in the 59th minutes, but Chinedu Udechukwu ensured that the two goal lead was restored.
A spell of mad moments saw Sunshine’s Bright Akpojuvewho and Ifeanyi Nweke of Rangers sent off as the two teams ended the game with 10 men.
Ifeanyi Ubah got all points at Nnewi after a 1-0 win against Wikki Tourist. Ugochukwu Igejiofor’s winner came in the 17th minutes.
Jigawa Golden Stars got a hard fought 2-1 victory over Heartland. Samuel Stone Onukwube scored for the home team had right at the death after Bright Onyedikachi put the visitors ahead with a ferocious shot in the 82nd minute but two minutes later Saidu Abdullahi levelled for the hosts.
It was Lobi Stars playing a goalless draw against Abia Warriors at the Makurdi Stadium. MFM FC and Kwara United’s game ended the same way.
