The last game of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day 5 ended with the match between Akwa United of Akwa Ibom and Wikki Tourist of Bauchi.
The two teams shared the spoils (one all) at the Nest of Champions Stadium, Uyo.
The two goals came in the second half of the game through Ndifreke Effiong who scored for Akwa United while Chinedu Udeagua restored parity for Wikki.
Effiong reacted quickly to rob Wikki Tourists goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili of the ball and calmly beat his marker before sending a low ball into the back of the net beyond the reach of the Akwa defender.
Chinedu Udeagua equalised for Wikki Tourists in the 37th minutes. He put the ball brilliantly at the left corner of the post with the left foot to score a beauty propelled by a good team build up.
The home side had opportunities to increase their lead Ubong Friday and Ikechukwu Nwani being the major culprits.
Minutes later, Ikechukwu Nwani missed a sitter after a beautiful solo-run. Ndifreke Effiong was free and unmarked but Nwani blast it straight at the goalkeeper.
Charles Atshimene thought he had got Akwa in front again after Etim Matthew had squared a pass to him after Nwabali poorly dealt with Ndifreke’s 20 yards freekick, but the assistant ref’s flag went up for offside.
The pressure by the home side yield nothing as the game ended 1-1.
