Tomorrow the second half of the Nigerian Professional League (NPFL) will commence and three teams who seat in the top positions with just a couple of points separating them, will be watching one another’s backs hoping to win and expecting that their rivals’ result favour them.
Plateau United with thirty three points are at home in this one as they seek to go back to the zenith of the league.
They play Dakakada FC who they drew goalless last week at the Nest of Champions in Uyo and will fancy their chances in this reverse fixture at their home; the new Jos Stadium.
Plateau United had started the season on a high going top after some games but lost the lead to Lobi Stars of Makurdi several times this season.
Lobi Stars, the present league travel to Bauchi to play Wikki Tourist who have struggled in few matches under their new coach Usman Abdullahi.
The first leg of this tie ended in Lobi Stars getting a hard fought win at the Aper Aku Stadium. A win for Lobi Stars keeps them top in the log.
Rivers United is thirty second on the log, three points behind league leaders, Lobi Stars and a point a drift of Plateau United who are second.
The Rivers side go to the game with win their minds after losing the reverse fixture by a goal to nil.
Enyimba International of Aba play their sister club, Abia Warriors twice in a week and will seek to do the double over the warriors to continue their resurgence.
However, Abia Warriors have not been an easy opponent for the defending champions and that may just continue today.
The four four ties between the teams at Umuahia have ended in a win for the warriors, two draws and one win for Enyimba since 2014.
Rangers International after a draw at the Nest of Champion, have all the advantage to get a win at the Cathedral as they host Akwa Unites today.
The Flying Antelope are in a fine form and will seek to continue their rejuvenation after being outed of the caf confederation’s cup.
Akwa United on the other hand, are in good form too after a four match unbeaten run. With an eye on the top four spot, the Promise Keepers will be push over in this tie.
MFM put a halt to Pillars’ thirteen match unbeate run last week and Pillars will be seeking a revenge from that match as they get set yo to host the church boys at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
It looks like an herculean task for the Lagos based team as they have struggled away this season.
Ifeanyi Ubah host Sunshine Stars at the Nnewi Stadium will seek to beat a Sunshine Stars who defeated them last week and have been good in the league so far.
Warri Wolves will host Katsina United in Delta and will look to get one over the Northern side who are in good form.
Heartland will seek to win the reverse fixture against Adamawa who defeated them last week.
Jigawa Golden Stars will play Nasarawa United in the last fixture at the Lafia Stadium. The tie between both sides had ended 1-0 in favour of Jigawa Golden Stars.
