In the rescheduled fixtures of the match day one played on Monday, Akwa United and Dakkada FC shared the spoils in the Ibom derby while Kastina United were 3-2 better than Heartland FC of Owerri.
Akwa United failed to make their dominance count at the Nest of Champion in the first derby of the season.
After a first half were the home side searched for goals to no avail, Ndifreke Effiong and Friday Ubong were introduced to the game to add fire power, but it Effiong who had the best chance of the game and missed it.
Dakkada also came close to scoring when Christian Ekong well hit freekick in the 71st minutes came off the post from 30 yards.
In the last kick off game, Heartland drew the first blood at the Muhammed Dikko Stadium as Bright Onyedikachi’s sublime strike gave the away side the lead.
Kastina United responded at the dead of half time to restore parity through Boubacar Masally’s 44th minutes goal.
It was not until 40 minutes into the second half that another goal came. It was the away side again that took the lead; Samuel Nnoshiri made it 2-1 for Heartland.
Masally was however not done as he scored his second to peg back the Naze Millionaires once again in the 88th minutes of the game.
Kastina United were determined to take all points in the tie and substitute, Samuel Kalu made sure of that as he netted the winner in the 92nd minutes.
