The last two first leg quarter finals matches of the North West Regional playoffs took place Sunday June 23rd at the Unity Stadium of The University of Bamenda in Bambili.
In the first match considered by spectators as the finals before the finals, Foncha Street FC took the lead as early as the 2nd minute of play through Brilant Awah Mukala Tanwie. At the 32nd minute of play, Foncha Street doubled their lead thanks to a bullet header from Jean Claude Laimo Serkwi.
The continues domination by Foncha Street FC, forced coach Souffo Jacke of Rangers FC of Bafut to conduct the first substitution of the game. The substitution will pay off on the 45th minute of play when the referee awarded a penalty to Rangers FC of Bafut. The penalty was saved in the first attempt but the assistant referee ruled the save out because the goalkeeper failed to have any of his leg on the line. On his second attempt, Fang Engelbert scored to reduce scores. That’s how the match will stay till full time.
In the second match of the day, Hilltop Strikers had all the chances to bury the hopes of Kumbo Highlanders but they failed to. The Strikers from the Hilltop took the lead at the 10th minute thanks to a thunderbolt header from Forche Leonard. After failing to concretise their chances, Kumbo Highlanders had a penalty at the 83rd minute and was scored by Kiven Mbuwir Sevis.
