Matches of the Swiss first and second tiers have been suspended over the weekend as a result of concerns over the spread of the Coronavirus.
The Swiss Football Association has taken the decision due to increasing fears as the virus continues to spread across the globe.
Unlike in Italy where five games of the Italian Serie A will be played behind closed doors, the games in Switzerland’s two top leagues have simply been cancelled and postponed.
The Swiss FA has also announced that, games could still be canceled in the future depending on how the situation with virus evolves.
According to the communique from the Swiss FA, the possibility of playing games behind closed doors could also be considered.
Six Cameroon players would have been involved. Young Boys of Bernes’ Moumi Ngamaleu and Jean Pierre Nsame, Servette’s Gaël Ondoa, FC Sion’s Alexander Song and Christian Zock Abep, in the Swiss Super League and Yvan Alounga of Aarau in the Swiss Challenge League.
They might be disappointed to go a weekend without what they enjoy doing the most, but there is more to life than just football.
