Nigeria National League (NNL) clubs continue to play friendly games ahead of the resumption of the league to avoid match rustiness on the part of players.
The Sports Ground of the University of Uyo Annex came alive as Ibom Youth FC squared up against Cofine Fc in a friendly encounter which lived up to its billing in a five (5) goal thriller.
In the 16th minute of the match in-form striker, Ubon Obot capitalized on a defensive mix up to open the scoring for Ibom Youth FC.
Abraham Iwat doubled the lead with his second goal in two (2) days before Peter Peter pulled one back for Cofine FC as both sides went in to the break with scores 2-1.
A stunning second half saw Aniefiok Samuel of Cofine FC level matters with a stunning long range effort but Jonah was on hand to reciprocate with a similar strike to ensure Ibom Youth FC emerged victorious 3-2 at the end of regulation time.
The coach of both clubs reacted to the result at full time.
Coach Emmanuel Ntuk of Ibom Youth Football
“I expected a Great game vs Cofine Fc and I’m happy with the performance of my Players. We have won the last four friendlies scoring 17 goals and hopefully we will maintain this form when the league resumes soon”.
Coach Ubong Sunday of Cofine Football Club.
“It was always going to be a tough match but I must confess. I’m Proud of the display of my team. The boys were commanding in possession and created lots of chances in the game which is exactly what is expected of them as we continue to build a new team in preparation for the Nationwide League One Season”.
Both sides are preparing for their respective league engagements later this month and played a thrilling friendly encounter which ended 3-2 in favor of Ibom Youth FC.
