Stade Renard of Melong central defender and captain Nkuissi Thomas Legrand has told kick442.com that he is targeting a good performance in the upcoming Cameroon League 1 playoffs because he feels the moment is right for him to showcase his desire to participate in the 2020 CHAN competition with Cameroon.
“I am happy that the performance this season has improved, my mates and I have been good. The coaches have helped us alot, they have changed our mentality,we approach games differently now and that’s why we are very hard to beat and we get morw good results now.”
“I think the time is right for me to go and fight for my place to represent my country and CHAN 2020 is a realistic target for me.”
“As a defender it feels good to know that we conceded the fewest number of goals(7) in the league and we finished second in a very difficult group with just 2 defeats in 16 games but we are now preparing for the playoffs in total serenity. We will take it game after game but ensure that from the start till the end of every game we show respect for our opponents but fight for maximum points.”
Playing out of Melong makes a little difference but we are use to dealing with that; Nkuissi Thomas told the online portal.
Cameroon host the 2020 CHAN competition in January following declarations from CAF boss Ahmad Ahmad last month.
Last season Nkuissi was in the LFPC team of the season due to his excellent despite his club only surviving in the last day of the season.
He has made 15 League appearances in 16 games this season.
Stade Renard, Feutcheu FC,YOSA, Cotonsport,APEJES Mfou and Dragon Yaounde will engage in a 5 games contest for the 2019 League 1 title beginning from the 12th May 2019 in Yaounde.
