Unisport of Bafang full back, Sigano Nkengne Amede has revealed players of the club still fancy their chances of being promoted to the league one championship this season.
Speaking to kick442.com 24 hours ahead of this Saturday’s West Region derby against Racing, the defender preached confidence.
The 20-year-old former Victoria United and Kadji Sports Academy left back declared Unisport is still in the race for promotion to league one this season.
“The two defeats in the early phase of the second round of the championship made us seat and reflect on what to do to get better results. The results are better now, we can’t stop dreaming about more. We want to take Unisport back to the topflight championship this season”: Amede concluded.
Coach Benjamin Mongo’s Unisport started the second round of the championship slowly but have recovered after recording wins in their last two games.
They currently occupy the fifth spot on the log with 26 points. They are two points away from third place OFTA of Kribi who occupy the third spot and are on standby in these round of matches.
Unisport Bafang were relegated to the second tier competition at the end of last season.
They have barely struggled to put players together this season due to limited financial resources.
Achieving promotion in this circumstances looks far fetched. Getting it will be a huge achievement for the current players and management of the club.
After Saturdays game, the club and their rivals will be left with five league games before the season ends.
