Tangiri Franklin, a player with Olympique Marseille has finished as the top goal scorer of the maiden edition of the Njie Clinton End of Year Festival. The player who was tied on 2 goals with Lartey Franklin scored in the final to finish on three goals, one more than any other player in the competition.
His heroics for his side saw him taking home FCFA 50,000 from the donor of the tournament.
It is certainly a good showing for a player who plays for Young Sport Academy of Bamenda. With the Elite 1 football championship still to commence in Cameroon, such a competition has helped the player to stay fit and sharp. In his last encounter, he was named as cam win lotto’s man of the match.
During his first encounter, Tangiri Franklin scored a brace for his side as they won Dynamo Moscow on penalty shoot out to reach the final. In the finals, Tangiri Franklin scored his side’s second goal at the 61st minute of play.
“It was a good tournament as we came out victorious. Winning is what matters and the goals are only important if it gets us victories. I think my goals helped the team and so I am very happy,” Tangiri Franklin told kick442.com.
“I knew if we could keep a clean sheet all I needed to do was to score. I was not worried as I trusted my defenders and I am happy everything went well. We knew we did not have to start as we did in our first match. In the first game we conceded two early goals and that gave us so much trouble and we decided to start on the front foot and that gave us the victory,” Tangiri Franklin added.
It should be recalled that Tangiri Franklin started his professional career in the South West regional League with Cinyodev FA in Buea. He played four seasons with the club before leaving for Young Sports Academy. So far, Tangiri Franklin has had two seasons with YOSA.
