Tangiri Franklin, a player with Olympique of Marseille (Molyko and Boduma) in the ongoing Clinton Njie End of year Tournament has been awarded the man of the award for his performance against Dynamo Moscow (Muea and Bomaka).
Franklin, a player with Young Sports Academy of Bamenda scored a brace during the second semi-final of the competition. His 2 goals helped his side take the game into a penalty shootout where he side Marseille won 4 goals to 2. Though he did miss his penalty, it was not costly.
“I am very happy for my performance mainly because it gave us the victory and it was good to be given the man of the match award,” Tangiri Franklin told kick442.com.
On the game as a whole, Franklin said “We did fight as a team and we did succeed in coming from 2 goals down which made us fight as a team. It was a great team performance from the midfield to the strikers. When I missed the penalty I felt like I had disappointed my team but they encouraged me and I am happy that they helped me and we got the victory.”
“We had a lot of resilience during the game and we did not give up. Even though we were tired we did say until the last minute and we kept pilling the pressure on our opponents. We appreciate our supporters who were with us every step of the way during the game,” Tangiri Franklin added.
The two goals for Tangiri Franklin takes him to level with Mbinglo Lartey Franklin for the race of the highest goal scorer of the tournament. The top goalscorer is expected to bag home some FCFA 20,000. The two players will lock horns on Sunday, December 27, 2020, during the final as both will look to finish the Njie Clinton end of year tournament as the highest goal scorer.
