Tangiri Franklin, a player with Olympique of Marseille (Molyko and Boduma) and Mbinglo Lartey Franklin of Tottenham Hostpur (Small Soppo, Tole, Long Street, Clerks Quarters and Great Soppo) are the two players battling to finish as the top goal scorer of the Njie Clinton End of Year Festival.
Both players have two goals each and the final that both players are expected to participate in will be very important not just for which team clinches the title but which player amongst the two finishes highest goal scorer. FCFA 50,000 is the prize money for the highest goal scorer.
Both players may still not finish as top goal scorer should other players succeed in getting more goals than them. Oscar Nembo of Lyon, Amih Renzo and Sona Ekobe from Dynamo Moscow are both on 1 goal each. Should any of them score more than 1 goal during the third place – with the hope that Lartey and Tangiri do not score, will clinch the top goalscorer accolade.
“I am very happy for my performance mainly because it gave us the victory and it was good to be given the man of the match award,” Tangiri Franklin told kick442.com.
Lartey Franklin and Tangiri Franklin will also be battling for the cam win lotto’s man of the match award. The award comes with it FCFA 50,000 from one of the sponsors of the tournament, cam win lotto. The two players are the only recipients of cam win lotto’s man of the match after the two semi-finals.
“Concerning the Man of the Match it is always a pleasure to be giving an individual title but it is still down to my whole team and I thank them for that. The strategy we used was to press high and not to give them any breeding space. It was not an easy feat, legs are tired but it was a job well done by the team.”
Mbinglo Lartey could have had a hard trick in the game after Spurs conceded a third penalty. The player who was on two goals decided to give the scoring opportunity to his colleague Clinton who stepped up and scored.
Cam win lotto is expected to give two more awards, one for the third-place battle between Lyon and Dynamo Moscow and in the final between Spurs and Marseille. Should Lartey or Tangiri succeed in getting it during the final, the person would have won it one more than any other player in the competition.
