The head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon António Conceição Da Silva Oliveira has recalled Njie Clinton Mua into the Lions squad for the first time since he scored against Nigeria during the 2019 AFCON 16 finals and got entangled in a controversial video leak.
The Dynamo Moscow forward has been in fine form since the start of the 2020-2021 season in Russia, scoring two goals in six appearances.
His greater involvement in the team has put him on the news for the right reason lately, justifying coach Conceição’s confidence in the forward.
The 26-year-old versatile forward with ability to operate in the left and right-wings has rarely been doubted on the pitch since his senior international debut in September 2014 in Libumbashi.
With 9 goals in 30 appearances for country, Njie is only second to Vincent Aboubakar who has 11 in that time underlying the importance of the 2017 AFCON winner to the plans of coach António Conceição.
Dark clouds covered Njie’s international career late last year due to the video scandals but that seems buried now and Njie looks to be ready to move forward just like his countrymen and coach is willing to accept him again.
48 hours before the release of the list, Njie Clinton tender and official apology to Cameroonians and vowed to come back stronger.
The former Tottenham and Olympic Marseille forward came through the ranks of Olympique Lyonnais after moving to Europe through the Brasserie Football Academy.
